My wife and I recently bought four humidifiers to help with our overly dry home. We decided to purposefully purchase four different models, including this. These four models are the following:- HuPro 777 Premium Ultrasonic Cool & Warm Mist Humidifier ($99)- OVPPH Cool Mist Humidifier ($45)- Elechomes UC5501 Ultrasonic Humidifier ($86)- Levoit Dual 100 ($50)I’ll provide a more detailed review of this humidifier below. For an overall assessment, the biggest takeaway for us is that you get what you pay for. The HuPro and Elechomes humidifiers are excellent. The Levoit humidifier works well enough, but lacks in some ways. The OVPPH humidifier should not be purchased due to fan failure after only 5 weeks of continuous use.Overall Assessment:The Elechomes humidifier is excellent, and only the lack of a top fill tank keeps it from being my favorite of the four. I would highly recommend it.Pro:- Very large tank capacity- Excellent output- Two concentric output vents- Excellent warm mist- Sleep mode available- Onboard hygrometerCon:- Bottom fill tank- Automated humidity control doesn’t work as effectively in very large roomsComments:Filling: The single greatest weakness of this otherwise excellent humidifier is the bottom fill design. In order to refill the tank, you must remove it, flip it over, and unscrew the cap. (On the plus side, however, it does seem like you can get filters for the tank that attach to the cap if you have water quality issues.)Output and Runtime: This is the best of the humidifiers we bought for output. It produces an excellent quantity of mist. The design of the output vent features two independently rotating sections that allow you to create two jets of mist in separate directions. This is an excellent feature. The output level is configurable with three levels (min, medium, and max). Thanks to its impressively large tank (among the best in this price range), it easily runs the entire night. Taken together, the output and runtime make this one of my favorite humidifiers.Warm Mist: This is an ultrasonic humidifier, meaning that the mist is not steam. That said, this model features four levels of heating (no heat and three increasing levels of heat). The hottest of these levels makes the mist very toasty. Of the four humidifiers we recently purchased, this one has the best warm mist by far.Hygrometer: Onboard hygrometers are great, but they become less and less useful as the room gets larger. In our case, we use this in a very large bedroom (so large, in fact, that we need another high capacity humidifier to provide sufficient coverage). This feature would work well if the humidifier is centrally located in a small room. In our case, the humidity reading on the humidifier is (understandably) higher than the reading near the bed. As a result, automated control (i.e. “keep this room at 45% humidity”) doesn’t work as well in larger rooms.Sleep Mode: The sleep mode of this unit fortunately turns off all of the lights. Bonus points must be awarded for the brief display of “Zzz” on the panel!Button Noise: The button noise of this model is very loud. If you have to press a button repeatedly (for example, to set the desired humidity level), it’s going to make you sad and other people in the house are going to think some alarm has went off. Fortunately, we found that we rarely have to press more than one button.Update(s):- Added cost of the Levoit humidifier- Reported failure of the OVPPH humidifier's fan after only five weeks of useArrived on promised day, well packed, all parts as expected.First couple of days convinced me I should return it, I believed I got defective unit. It kept turning itself off with the display reading: “Err”. The manual said this indicates lack of water coming in - try to add water or re-insert the tank. Well, the tank was full. Re-inserting it let it work for some time, sometimes 10-15 minutes, sometimes 1-2 hours, before doing this Err thing again. After couple of days I decided to return it, ordered a different similar product elsewhere, printed return label. While waiting for the new product to arrive, gave this one another try. Guess what? Well, since I’m asking, you just guessed it right: it started working , and that being about a month now, it only shuts off when there is indeed no water left!Ok, so it seems like the case when a product needs to be used some time to get “primed”, so to speak.Other aspects:* noise level: pretty quiet. On lower settings you need to put your ear on it to hear it working. On the highest mist and heat, you’ll see some sipping sound, quite smooth, and I personally find it rather relaxing, or not annoying anyway.* covered area: that’s not exact science in the first place. Depends on many conditions that are not under control of this device to start with. And desired level of humidity as well. I have it in the area about 12x30 feet where I find it sufficient to maintain around 50-60% RH, and the settings do depend on what humidity is outside and what you want inside, which can vary widely. Btw, technically, I think, covered volume should be advertised rather than area, ceiling height as a dimension should be taken as well. Mine is about 8’2” but every house is different.* built-in hygrometer: not accurate. I think it’s a design flow, it measures humidity immediately next to itself which is obviously much higher than in the rest of the room, with no correction to it, apparently. For comparison, I have an analog hygrometer located in the same room, and a digital one incorporated into a thermometer, and also another humidifier which has built-in hydrometer, these three agree with each other on what humidity is. I guess that that other humidifier has some smart auto-correction, as its sensor is also incorporated in the device itself, like this one, but works fine. That being said, you can’t expect it to give you the humidity you set as desired. It will shut off when it *thinks* that the level is achieved. When it’s not. So you have to experiment with what you need to set to actually get it. So e.g. I have it set about 10-15% higher than what I really want. Good news is, it does the work, so just don’t trust its own meter. also, if you want it to just keep working no matter what level is, you can do that too, there is the “—-%” setting which means: no limit.* the “white dust” issue mentioned in some reviews. I only noticed it when adding certain types of essential oils into the designated slot (beware: NOT in the tank, and they do warn you against that specifically). But with regular tap water and no oil, no white stuff at all. But my water is from the well and it has very low hardness. It may be different in your case, you might need to use filtered/distilled water to avoid the calcium powder accumulation - which btw should be easy to just wipe out with wet cloth.* seller/customer support: did not try to contact them directly, so all I can say is that they do offer free return, and I already had pre-paid label and would probably get a full refund should I send it back, but I decided to keep it, because as I described above, it does work generally well after couple of days of ”priming” (or whatever you call it)So, all in all, would I recommend it? Well, I’m keeping it, even though I already got another one. You see yourself if you find it good enough for the price/functionality ratio. This is a late post compared to when I purchased this back in 2020, but here we go:This product works perfectly. I love it! My daughter and I have asthma and allergies, when you need cool humidified air to help your baby sleep at night you really need a product you can rely on. Not only does is perform as it says, but the team really came through for me. Recently, after 2 years the threading to the water chamber broke, and I was just outside of warranty. I wrote an email, and got a reply within hours. After sending some pictures, they agreed to help. I thought they would send a new water chamber, but they went above the calling and sent an entirely new unit. I am so appreciative of this company and their team. Really at a losf for words. Thank you so much from my family to yours ✌❤???I live in south Florida where the humidity is super high but where the AC dries out the air especially at night in the bedroom. I used to wake up with sinuses all plugged up. No more. At ten when I go to bed I turn it on, 50% humidity, medium level. I use the sleep mode to cancel the flashing lights. I turn it off at 6 am when I get up. It uses so little water that a week later it is still half full. I change the water anyway and let the tank and plugs dry out all day. Filling the tank and having to turn it upside down is not very practical but I manage. Bottom line so far so good. This humidifier quickly humidifies the space I use it in, which is great. The one downside is that I keep getting the "002" error, which the manual suggests is due to abnormal working temperature of the atomizing plate. The solution is to clean the water box and atomizing plate, but neither are dirty since this happened the very first time I used it. So far I've just been unplugging it and letting it cool off before turning it back on, but this makes it less useful overall. I've only been using it on the default cool setting, so it's not like I've set it up to give me heated mist.LEAKS!!!!! Had it for two months. DO NOT BUY!!! Waste of money since it’s expensive!!there’s no buttons on the front you have to use the remote.Mon Élechomes garde l'humidité de la pièce au bon niveau et je n'ai pas à le remplir 2 fois par jours.
